DEVELOPMENTAL EDIT

A developmental edit is a big-picture edit of a finished manuscript, exploring what’s working and what isn’t on a macro level. Plot, character development, structure, and pacing are all tackled in a developmental edit, as well as answering any specific queries you may have about your book, such as whether or not a particular scene is working in the way you intended. A developmental edit includes digital annotations in the margins, a detailed editorial letter addressing the strengths of your manuscript, what isn’t working, and what could use more work, and a follow-up call to discuss once you've had a chance to review the letter and annotations.

LINE EDIT

A line edit is a detailed, line-by-line edit focusing on word choice, flow, and dialogue. It does not explore big picture questions like plot, character development, etc., instead focusing on the micro details like catching word echoes and looking at sentence structure and voice. This option includes line edits in the manuscript (using track changes), annotations in the margins, an editorial memo, and a follow-up call to discuss after you’d had a chance to review. This is best for authors who already have an edited manuscript and are looking for a detailed polish.

Please note that each option only includes one round of edits. If you’re unsure about which option is right for you, please get in touch and we can discuss!
